Science on a Sphere ocean program at 2 and 3 pm

Visitors are invited to experience Science on a Sphere® to learn more about Earth’s oceans, land, atmosphere, and planetary neighbors. Science on a Sphere® is a spherical display system created by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration which helps visitors see how global patterns, such as ocean circulation, weather, planetary movements, and climate affect our world. Science on a Sphere® programs are offered free to the public at 2 and 3 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays, throughout the year. Program topics vary each day as follows: Tuesdays – astronomy, Wednesdays – atmosphere, Thursdays – land, Fridays – oceans, Saturdays – mixed topics. The Bay Education Center and its programs are sponsored by the Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve, which is operated by the University of Texas Marine Science Institute.

The Bay Education Center is located at 121 Seabreeze Dr., and is free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 1- 4 pm.

Directions from Port Aransas: Take the ferry to Aransas Pass. Once in Aransas Pass turn RIGHT on TX-35 business. Stay on TX-35 BUS N all the way to Rockport (about 10 miles). In Rockport, turn right onto FM 1069 (Market Street). Turn left onto Austin Street. Turn right onto Veterans Memorial Dr., which will become Seabreeze Drive. The Bay Education Center will be on your right, just before the entrance to Rockport Beach Park.
