Dr. Peter Thomas Receives Honorary Doctorate from Swedish University
AUSTIN, Texas—Dr. Peter Thomas, professor of marine science at The University of Texas at Austin, recently received an honorary Doctor of Philosophy from Örebro University in Sweden.
Thomas was chosen for his accomplishments in the study of steroid signaling in cells through novel steroid cell membrane receptors. Thomas’ research program is focused on understanding the role of steroid hormones in vertebrate reproduction.
Örebro University awarded five honorary doctorates this year, two in literature, one in social sciences, one in engineering and one in sciences. Thomas was awarded Örebro’s first honorary doctorate in biology.
Honorary doctorate recipients were nominated and determined by an Örebro faculty-appointed committee.
