Texas Senate and House of Representatives Honor MSI with Resolutions

On May 1, 2006, two separate resolutions recognizing the UT Marine Science Institute’s 60 years of marine science research, education, and outreach were entered into the legislative record. The resolution in the Texas House of Representatives was sponsored by Rep. Gene Seaman. The resolution in the Texas Senate was sponsored by Sen. Chuy Hinojosa. After each resolution was read, both legislators added their own comments about the importance of the Marine Science Institute to the State of Texas. Attending the event at the Capitol were Dr. Mary Ann Rankin, Dean UT College of Natural Sciences; Hon. Georgia Neblett, Mayor City of Port Aransas; Ben Vaughan III, member and former Chair UT Marine Science Advisory Council; Jon Newton, member and former Chair UT Marine Science Advisory Council; and Dr. Lee Fuiman, Director UT Marine Science Institute.
