When: Wednesday, August 29, 2007Where: Wetland Education Center, University of Texas Marine Science InstituteTime: 5:30 - 9:00 pmBe one of our 100 volunteers who will help the Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve and the University of Texas Marine Science Institute landscape the Wetlands Education Center with native marsh and sand dune plants. Your effort will establish this unique center that will teach an understanding and appreciation for the roles that wetlands play in supporting and maintaining the productivity of the coastal zone and protecting coastal communities.
The planting will take place at The University of Texas Marine Science Institute Visitor Center. Click here for directions. This event will be semi-strenuous, wet, hot, and muddy. Bring a hat, old sneakers, gloves and your trowel. Drinking water and hot dogs will be provided. Please leave your strollers or pets at home. Conditions are not suitable to children under the age of 6. Volunteers ages 6 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or teacher. Children (under 18 years old) must have a parent or guardian sign a release form. T-shirts will be given to the first 100 participants. ADVANCED REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
