Nutrient data

Nutrients are essential for growth of the Brown Tide. One of the mysteries of the bloom is where the nutrients come from to support this high

biomass. Ammonium and phosphate values are not high. The Brown Tide does not require silicate, although many common phytoplankton like diatoms do.

The Baffin Bay area differs from the Laguna again in that much higher silicate values were noted in this embayment compared to the Laguana Madre.
