Watershed Activity

Flour Bluff students constructed models of a watershed using Play-Doh. These watersheds included hills, a river, lowlands, lakes, and an ocean. A rain storm was then modeled to test hypostheses about flooding of coastal lowlands like Flour Bluff. Elaborations were made on erosion by watching the pink dye leach out and be transported to the ocean by the rivers, and on anthropogenic (human) modifications to a natural watershed by constructing dams and cities.
