Antarctic Scientists
- Sally Applebaum
(sallym@utmsi.utexas.edu)
is a research scientist at UTMSI. A native of nearby Flour Bluff, Texas,
this is Sally's fourth trip to Antarctica.
- Terry Palmer
(palmer@utmsi.utexas.edu)
is a graduate student studying benthic ecology at
UTMSI. Terry is from Papamoa, New Zealand
and this is the first
time he has traveled to Antarctica.
- Both Terry and Sally are members
of Dr. Paul
Montagna's laboratory.

- Brian Cummings (cummings@paisd.net)
teaches physics and chemistry
at Port Aransas High School.
- Julie Findley
(jfindley@paisd.net) teaches fifth grade
science at H.G. Olsen Elementary in Port Aransas. She has a B.A. in
Biology from the University of Texas at Austin and a M.S. in Curriculum
and Instruction from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She has taught
14 years with 13 years being in Port Aransas. In 1995, she received the
1995 Merit Award Sadie Ray Graff Educational Leadership (Keep Texas
Beautiful).
- Rose Palmer

received her Diploma of Teaching from Dunedin College of Education. She
teaches year 3 & 4 students at Papamoa
Primary
School in Papamoa, New Zealand which has classes from Years 1 - 6.
She has taught at Papamoa School fulltime for 15 years.
- Cheryl Park (island@paisd.net)
has a B.A. in Elementary/Life-Earth Science from the University of Texas
in San Antonio. Cheryl begins her 7th year at
Brundrett Middle School in
Port Aransas. She taught 5 years prior to her employment in Port
Aransas. In addition to her teaching schedule, she runs the afterschool
at-risk program.
