Recent News:

Expedition/Field Work:

1. Prof.Shank and Min conducted an offshore transect survey between Port Aransas and  an offshore platform (15 nm out) on 5/30/08 for hydrography and optical property studies.
2. Prof.Robert Rhew and his graduate student conducted a collaborative research with Min on trace gas flux study at several local habitats on 5/14-19/08 to better understand the gas exchange processes of these climate-related trace gases from certain plants such as Batis and Sargassum.
3. Participating in the US CLIVAR/CO2 repeat hydrography program in the Pacific Ocean between San Diego, CA and Easter Island as a co-chief scientist (12/10/07-1/16/08)     - My cruise letters from the ship can be found in my essay pages.

Supervising:

1. A REU student, Adrianne Lee (Wellesley College, MA), has joined our lab during this summer for research. She is conducting research on spatial distribution of hypoxia in South Texas bays and nearshore waters in the Gulf of Mexico.
   
2. IlNam Kim has been awarded a Mission-Aransas NERR Graduate Research Assistantship for 2008 fiscal year period.
3. New PhD student, IlNam Kim, has joined our group since August 2007.
4. Undergraduate Independent Research for Credit (MNS370): UT Austin undergraduate student, Maria Mancha conducted an independent research in the lab during the 1st summer session (2007).
